My friend Julia kept telling me about her friends and the baby they were expecting. She was so excited for them, and has fallen in love with their little man. I was lucky enough to get to meet them and photograph this beautiful baby boy. Thank you Tara and Ben for letting me spend the afternoon with your boy. I have been a bad blogger – sorry. A car accident and some personal family issues have left me tired and super busy. But without further delay, here is a peek at a newborn I photographed in April.
I had the pleasure of photographing baby Isaac – who’s mother is a good friend of my sister’s. (Thank you Melissa for helping out with Isaac’s photos). He was such a delight to work with. Marie and Craig congratulations on your beautiful baby boy. Thank you for letting me capture his early days. I look forward to updates about Isaac from Melissa!
One of my son’s best buddies is Silas who was born on a week before Liam. Silas and Liam don’t get to see each other very often, but when they do get together they are a barrel of laughs. I recently did a Spring photo session for Silas and his little sister Lila to celebrate their birthdays… Lila’s first and Silas’ third. We had a very fun time at the park, complete with a little BBQ picnic. Thanks for the fun day Silas and Lila! Liam was happy to see you again too!

Meet baby Kane – the newest little brother in a very busy household. He is a chubby, cuddly and well loved little man! His big brothers are already smitten with him. I’m so glad I got to meet him and take his photos! Congratulations R family!

I’m blogging a little out of order here… But wanted to share my first family session of 2013.
Maki contacted me just before Christmas to ask if I had any sessions available while her sister and her sister’s family were here visiting from Japan. We managed to find a time to get together just before I went on vacation and before they went back to Japan. It was a wonderful extended family shoot on a very cold and frosty day. The two little boys were so excited by the frost which they had never seen before. I hope they liked their visit to Canada, and I’m so glad that I was able to capture these memories of the whole family together.
I recently completed a course on Mastering Natural Lighting Indoors with Clickin Moms University. I love the Clickin Moms forum, and really enjoyed this class. I learned some great ways of shooting in tricky lighting situations – such as our gloomy and dark Victoria days. Here are a few of the images that I captured as assignments for the class.

Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day!
This weekend we are celebrating Family Day here in BC. So we are trying to spend lots of quality family time together. Today we spent the afternoon at Fort Rodd Hill running around the grounds. I snapped a few photos of the boys. This one captivates me. He has the most incredible eyes. (And if you look closely you can see me reflected in them!)
I had the honour of meeting Alison, Shannon and their adorable dog Chloe today. They are expecting their first baby in March. (On my husband’s birthday to be exact). Alison has a perfect little bump. I can’t wait to meet their little bundle of joy. Thanks for letting me capture this special time in your lives Alison and Shannon!
Sometimes life gets really hectic… like really, really hectic. This week I start working full time in my Infant Development Consultant job. I have worked four days a week for a very long time. It will be really hard not having my Fridays free to be with my boys. I am also in the middle of a photography lighting class which is a little intense. I have also been working on a photo 365 project. This last weekend my whole website went down… so I started a brand new site here (what do you think?)
But despite it all I have a husband and two wonderful boys who are keeping me grounded. They remind me to take breaks, and to sit down for a few minutes. They take an extremely long time to eat meals, because we always eat together – and it keeps me at the table longer. They insist on extra bedtime stories. They give extra hugs. And each one of them checks in with me. “Are you sad mom?” “Does this make you happy mom?” “I love you”… All these words keep me going. They remind me that I am not Superwoman. I am a working mom trying to keep the balance between work, kids, husband and hobbies. Sometimes I feel like I could use some superpowers to help cope with it all. But then I get a hug, a crayoned drawing, a back rub… and my world is okay again. I have my own personal superheroes catching me every time I fall.
